Ants, ants are like other insects, they use 'chemo sense' to detect sugar and other different types of food.
They have the ability to smell chemical substances in their surrounding. When these 
type of chemical food are present, they can be detected as smells by the olfactory receptors small
bristles on the insect's body.

These plates float over the hot , viscous layer, which is constantly in motion-like boiling soup.
